Events can usually be hit or miss in terms of engagement factor, but I’m happy to say that this one was a go. My MySpace Fashion buddy, Erin Bunch, and I headed over to Shape Magazine/Prettycity.com’s 2nd Annual Green and Gorgeous Campaign eco-chic event that was hosted by Environment Furniture, the innovative design brand whose use of uncommon woods, reclaimed, recycled and repurposed woods and canvas, have established them as design pioneers. Celeb fans include Julia Roberts and Leonardo DiCaprio who are fans of the brand’s sense of the aesthetic using only sustainable materials.
The packed event included gorgeous and organic beauty brands including ROB|B OPI Concept Salon, Orange Berlin, the Sofitel Spa, Bliss Spa Hollywood, JUICE beauty, Rand Hills Naturals, and many more. We were loving the reusable SWAG bags with organic products!
Here are my favorite people, Geraldine and Eric, marketing coordinator for Environment furniture.

More Event pics… I wanted to get a massage but these lines were ridiculously long.
Sometimes you just want to know the simplest, cheap beauty tips. Simple is best. So is not spending ridiculous amounts money on looking your best. Here are some rules that I’ve learned from friends, makeup artists, and through the grapevine.
10. Toilet paper covers make for great blotting sheets. In an emergency, definitely use this as you don’t want your forehead to be mistaken for an oil slick.
8. Fancy shampoos are overrated. The best clarifying and conditioning shampoos can all be found at your local drugstore, usually for under six bucks.
7. Sleep really is the best beauty remedy there is. The only problem is finding the time on our busy schedules!
6. Don’t drink/smoke excessively.
5. Eat your fruits and veggies. No need to spend money on strange herbs that promise you a bunch of things. What comes from the earth is best for your skin.
4. Smile and have fun when you can. Having a positive outlook can do wonders for your inner and outer beauty.
3. Lipstick/lipgloss can light up your entire face, so splurging on this is okay. A girl’s gotta live, you know.
2. Drink loads of water instead of diet soda. It’ll hydrate and moisturize your skin. Pronto.
1. Treat yourself- The most gorgeous people I know are that way because they’re happy with who they are and they take care of themselves. Beauty really is only skin deep. If you’re happy with who you are, then it’ll shine through.
I’m Asian-American, and though I was born and raised in the U.S.A, I still grew up absorbing the simple beauty secrets that my mother and her sisters would adhere to, which garnered them smooth skin and slim bodies, without any surgery. What are their secrets? Here are a few:
Drink Green Tea. Lots of it- Green tea is the rock star of teas, mostly for its antioxidant properties, EGCG’s recognized worldwide for its therapeutic properties. Green Tea contains powerful flavanoids called catechins which have fat-burning properties. Nice.
Eat Sea Vegetables- You know that green seaweed that’s wrapped around your California roll when you eat sushi? That’s called Nori, and it’s among the most popular sea vegetables that contain Calcium, Phosphorus, magnesium, iron, idodine and sodium. Other popular sea vegetables are hijiki, wakame, brown algae, and kelp. Yup. They sound gross, but they’re good for you.
I’m a pretty good listener amongst my friends and I’ve usually been the shoulder to cry on when their boyfriends have done some not-so-cool things or taken away the pints of ice cream when they tell me that they’re planning to inhale the entire thing in minutes. ( I usually get thanked for this later) I’ve also been the one to scold them and tell them if they screwed up. Yes, I do realize that not all guys are bad and that sometimes, we females also make mistakes.

What are your favorite hair care products that you can only buy at drugstores/supermarkets?
Good luck! I mean, we all love FREE stuff…especially me!
I’ve embedded this before, but “The Soloist,” deserves a second embed. Muhahaha. Amazing film about LA Times reporter named Steve Lopez who formed an unlikely friendship with a schizophrenic musical genius named Nathaniel Anthony Ayers. Here’s the real story behind the film.
I talk all the time about the power of music and how it has and still does play an important part in my life. It inspires and touches so many people and I couldn’t really do anything without it. In today’s rough times, we need to see stories of beauty and redemption such as this. This doesn’t mean that pain isn’t involved, but when you can see the positivity and beauty in harshness, then you’ve seen the light.
My name is Kathrien Ahn (yes, this is the correct spelling of my name) and I started this blog because I was the only female working at this tech start-up and needed a creative outlet. I'm a Content Producer for MySpace Celebrity, former Editor of Twirlit and writer for Manolith. Glad you stopped by the blog, and hope that it provides you with some laughs, inspiration or amusement. I am OBSESSED with music. Old skool hip-hop/R&B are bomb and I think Snobs/people with big egos are uber annoying. Ya heard? (I try to avoid them as much as possible)
