ABOUT
Yo, what’s up? Welcome to my blog.
My name is Kat and I started this blog while working at a tech-startup where I was the sole female. I started it because I was at a really creative low point in my life and someone said to me, “Why don’t you just start a blog? You can rant all you want”
(Here’s a fun little video from me from back in the day at the old start up office. Note: I sound like a bimbo but I am not one. I was just being incredibly cheesy)
So I did. Girlatatstartup 1.0 was old school and was just me ranting about not understanding technology, html, code, or what exactly developers do all day long. (I have much respect for you people now..front end and back end) Then it morphed into a blog that celebrates being creative, right-brained, and of course, contains my thoughts, opinions and rants. This includes lots of interviews with cool, interesting folks and acknowledging that I’m someone who is pursuing her dreams/goals. This is really hard.
I’ve been an Online Editor and continued to make videos about karaoke, life in LA, and anything creative. Now, I’m Content Producer for MySpace Celebrity/MySpace Entertainment. And I’m still pursuing my goals in Hollywood. (At present time, I’ve just performed 2 stand up comedy shows and got a producer’s call-back for a web series.)
This blog is just a testament to having the passion for anything creative whether you’re a writer, actor, blogger, tech nerd, or if you carve wood animals for a living. I grew up in an environment that didn’t foster much creativity so now I try to rock it out as much as possible. Hope that this blog continues to make you laugh or inspire whatever you do ’cause we’re all creative…even if you’re a number cruncher.
So if you ever want to battle me in hip-hop karaoke, e-mail me at girlatastartup@gmail.com… or find me on Stumble
Digg, or youtube.

Hello, Kat! Thank you for your messages & let me inform you that the site has been very useful esp. when I’d get stuck. I’m currently seeking employment in a hotel as Director of Sales. I’m very determined to return to this industry so despite not having done a Marketing Plan for a long period of time, I was able to refresh my memory from the samples provided.
Will email you again esp. if I’ll be lucky enough to land in the job I’ve been searching for more than a year. More power to you & stay in touch.
Kind regards,
DIANNE
hey Dianne, Sure thing and I’m glad to see that you’re doing what you can to find that dream job that you’re looking for. Thanks again and keep it going!
Best,
Kat
Just wanted to drop a note and mention that I read your “Staying Positive” manifesto at changethis.com. A great read and very inspiring. Thanks for the pick-me-up.
Also, “Pop Goes the Weasel” by Third Bass should be a future karaoke pick.
hey Chris,
It makes me so happy that this manifesto inspired you. And yes..I’ll have to rock out “Pop Goes the Weasel,” next time.
