Yeah, um…how random is this? At a recent audition, I saw Kulap V, a funny Asian chick that I acted with on the ‘Benihana Christmas’ episode of ‘The Office.’ We had a lot of fun on set during the taping of that episode and we both talked about the inevitable question that the both of us are asked constantly, “Are you the unmarked or marked Benihana Waitress?”
I met Monica Macer, not longer after moving out West, and was struck by how down-to-earth and humble she was, even though she’s written for huge TV shows, including ABC’s “Lost,” and Fox’s, “Prison Break.” And I was psyched when she agreed to a Twirlit interview about her writing experiences in Hollywood, how Obama’s kids have affected casting, and if she twitters. I still have to teach you Monica!!
Hope you enjoy the interview.
Hey party peoples. So… I’ve talked/written about this before, but I love music and hip-hop. Nothing can help me escape life’s realities like listening to a sick playlist or singing/rapping, of course.
Here’s me rapping “Forgot About Dre,” by Dr. Dre and Eminem. (I purposely dress as goody two shoes as possible and then perform, to increase the “What the …..” factor) Note: I showed my Dad this video and this is what he said
MY DAD: Do you have mental problem?
LOL!!!!
Hey guys, we’ve been on a roll with these videos and just shot one with Juan Carlos Mazorra, a director/producer who has worked on top hip-hop music videos and more. We caught up with him during a Recording studio session….
This is me in the Recording booth… HOLLA! As you can tell by my toothy grin, I was very excited to be there.
And here’s me and Juan Carlos.
Stay tuned for the Video interview! We talked a lot about how to get started in following your passions in life. Really good content. PEACE!
It’s really late as I blog right now and its really hot here in LA. The weather has been so strange lately, as a few days ago, I felt as though I was in Philly as it was ridiculously cold. (okay, maybe not THAT cold, but I do believe that your blood thins out when you move out West) Anyway, we started a video series for Twirlit, that will focus on fashion/beauty tips and also will feature people who will be able to hopefully provide you with useful/Entertaining content.
Our first shoot was with Verabella Salon in Beverly Hills, and that will be blogged later as the video for that shoot posts this week on the site and on my blog. (Of course!)
So…today, Sean Percival (content mgr at Tsavo and Master of SEO) and I were at Fairfax Flea Market to find a few examples of how Los Angelenos put together their style, even amidst this recesssion.
This is me pretending to be Kanye West with his plastic rimmed glasses. I definitely need to get a new pose. Any suggestions?
Here’s Sir Percival himself. We used to cause trouble when we worked together back in the day…haha. I also forced him to make this peace sign.
This band played a good set, providing background music at the flea market.
And… many deals were to be had. Recession Special example #1.
This shoot was really fun and we ended up meeting some interesting style subjects including a Pop star from Sweden. No joke. Keep a look out for an upcoming video post and more cool stuff from the Twirlit/girlatastartup Video series!
Are You Too Smart for Love? When it comes to matters of the heart, don’t think TOO much. Listen to your gut feelings. They usually don’t fail you.
Less is More When It Comes to Fashion Style is about bringing your individual personality to the table. No need to try too hard. Make like Russell Simmons and Just Do You.
Joe Zee of Stylista Joe Zee knows how to dress and style. Would love to meet this dude!
Beth Ditto Goes High Fashion Beth Ditto is not your typical Cover Girl, but she doesn’t care what anyone thinks. Nice.
Ah! I hate losing sleep, so as we all spring forward, at least we get more sunlight. (This is me being positive. ) It’s been a really good weekend, as Alan Moore’s “The Watchmen,” came out and I actually ended up liking it as it kicked ass at the box office this weekend with a $55.7 million in business. Directed by Zach Snyder, the film was gorgeously violent and filled with characters that toed the line between good and evil. To be honest, it was a bit long and I definitely need to a) Read the Graphic Novel b) Watch it again after reading the Graphic Novel. Ya know? There was this fantastic scene on Mars though… you should check it out.
In other news, I’ve been getting a lot of e-mails from readers who ask…
1) I don’t get your blog. What do you exactly do?
2) What’s with the obsession with hip hop karaoke?
3) Do you think that you can help me find my high school girlfriend/boyfriend? (This is random!!!)
4) You’re an actor/writer? What have you done?
5) Nice job on “The Office.” Were you the unmarked or marked Benihana Waitress?
6) Can you do my homework for me? It involves documents. (Uhhh…..)
So, in order to clarify this information, I decided to embed an interview I did with Ploomy, a funny, smart men’s lifestyle blog. (Run by Anthony and the team up in SF. They’re bomb.)
Meet Mark, Bad-ass and also my Writing Partner. Here’s his bio..yeah, um, he wrote it in the 3rd person.
Hailing from what you earthlings would recognize as 2404 A.D., Mark Charran arrived in Los Angeles 4 years ago with one thing on his mind; Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles. After conquering this goal, he quickly turned his sights on the acting and writing field, as everyone knows succeeding in this area is extremely easy. He has Guest-Stared on shows like “Gilmore Girls” and shot a pilot for comedy central called “Dollar Theater”, and has also developed a pilot for T.V. which is currently being shopped. While out patrolling the city dressed as Robin, Mark was assaulted by an angry gang of Trekkies. Feeling sorry for his plight, a brave woman named Kathrien Ahn stepped in and rescued Mark. Mark is charged (ordered) to help her develop an absolutely amazing screenplay. He’d like to thank ESPN for always keeping him distracted, and internet #$@%!.
My name is Kathrien Ahn (yes, this is the correct spelling of my name) and I started this blog because I was the only female working at this tech start-up and needed a creative outlet. I'm a Content Producer for MySpace Celebrity, former Editor of Twirlit and writer for Manolith. Glad you stopped by the blog, and hope that it provides you with some laughs, inspiration or amusement. I am OBSESSED with music. Old skool hip-hop/R&B are bomb and I think Snobs/people with big egos are uber annoying. Ya heard? (I try to avoid them as much as possible)
