Yeah, um…how random is this? At a recent audition, I saw Kulap V, a funny Asian chick that I acted with on the ‘Benihana Christmas’ episode of ‘The Office.’ We had a lot of fun on set during the taping of that episode and we both talked about the inevitable question that the both of us are asked constantly, “Are you the unmarked or marked Benihana Waitress?”
Okay, so, by now, you might know that I live in La-La Land (LA) and I’m originally from Philly. Plus I’ve been on NBC’s “The Office.” (Okay, that was a while ago). Well, these are traits that I share with Kate Flannery from “The Office” who plays the Office drunk, Meredith Palmer.
I randomly bumped into Kate while walking around Koreatown and it was random/hilarious because she’s super down-to-earth considering that she’s also an accomplished stage actress and an improv pro. (She actually didn’t quit her waitressing job until she found out “The Office” had been picked up for a second season)
Anyway, her family owns a bar in the Germantown area of Philadelphia, which is where my Dad’s store was located. Random coincidence!
I found this casting notice from a production company that is looking for offices for an upcoming reality show about “Office Life,” and thought we’d be perfect for this. So of course, I contacted the producers and pitched us for the show, not actually thinking they’d consider us.
I guested on NBC’s “The Office,” a season ago, and it was really surreal to walk on-set and see the Dwight in front of his computer on his myspace account and then talking to Pam. BTW, Jenna Fisher and Raiin Wilson were really nice and cool. And Steve Carell???? I was surprised that he was so humble considering how famous and successful he is, which only made me like him more.
Anyway, the producer came by our office yesterday, and they’re interested in our office for the show. We’re in the running, so we’ll see what happens. Would you watch a reality show about our office???
Awkward silences. Conference room chatter. Dirty dishes in the sink. Ew GROSS!!
My name is Kathrien Ahn (yes, this is the correct spelling of my name) and I started this blog because I was the only female working at this tech start-up and needed a creative outlet. I'm a Content Producer for MySpace Celebrity, former Editor of Twirlit and writer for Manolith. Glad you stopped by the blog, and hope that it provides you with some laughs, inspiration or amusement. I am OBSESSED with music. Old skool hip-hop/R&B are bomb and I think Snobs/people with big egos are uber annoying. Ya heard? (I try to avoid them as much as possible)
